Terms specific to Design Intuition
Dimension
(n) (1) The girth of an object. (2) The numbers, arrows and witness lines drawn in your design. In this case, the dimension can be manipulated in several ways. (3) An axis of measurement. For example, the hidden dimension.
Terms generic to CAD
Witness Line
(n) Either of the parallel lines that indicate to what a dimension refers. The arrows point at and end on the witness lines.
Terms generic to woodworking
Stile
(n) Vertical component of a frame (eg, the vertical sides of the face frame of a cabinet).
Rail
(n) Horizontal component of a frame (eg, the top and bottom of the face frame of a cabinet).
Mullion
(n) Divider components of a frame, window or door (eg, center divider of the face frame of a cabinet with two doors).
Terms generic to computers or to MacOS X
Check
(v) The action of clicking on a square or round checkbox so that, as a result, it contains a check or a dot (respectively). See uncheck.
Uncheck
(v) The action of clicking on a square or round checkbox so that, as a result, it is empty. See check.
