Controlling The Grid
Electronic Graph Paper

To reveal the grid controls, select Settings from the menu. Use the Grid controls to:
- Show, hide, and alter the number and color of: grid lines, both coarse and resolution.
- The precision of dimensional and positional numbers displayed.
You can also move the grid around by holding the spacebar down while clicking and dragging on your drawing.
Controlling the Coarse Grid Lines
You can adjust how many units of measurement are displayed between coarse grid lines. It's current value is shown in the text box above the slider. Use either the text box or the slider to change this number. The grid will be redrawn accordingly.
For example, to set a coarse grid line to display every twelve units, adjust the slider until the text box displays 12.0.
Controlling Resolution Grid Lines
You can adjust how many resolution grid lines are displayed between each unit of measurement. Its current value is shown in the text box above the slider. Use either the text box or the slider to change this number. The grid will be redrawn accordingly. If grid snap is checked (in the View controls), objects being created or edited will snap to this precision grid.
For example, to set a precision grid line to display for every 1/16th unit, adjust the slider until the text box displays 16.0.
Try This
- Slide the coarse grid until the text box says 12, then slide it to 1.
- Notice the grid change.
- Hold the spacebar down. Click on your drawing and drag it around.
- Notice the grid, the objects in your design, and the origin crosshairs move.
- Notice, too, that fractions change -- in your dimensions and in the Scaling slider.
